Getting started

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Availability: Free (Core) and Pro. Core is the free feature set. Your installed edition and version determine which controls are available.

Install and open the settings

  1. Back up the shop and try the setup on a staging copy first. Check the requirements on the product overview and activate WooCommerce.
  2. Install the Free package from WordPress.org when listed there, or upload the ZIP supplied by IPS through Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin. Activate the plugin.
  3. For Pro, use the separate Pro package supplied with your purchase. Deactivate the other edition before activating Pro; keep only one edition of this product active. Keep existing data when changing editions.
  4. Open IPS → Media Cleanup. Save a small configuration change, then check its effect in a separate customer session.

Run the first check

  1. Create a current backup of both the database and uploads. Choose a small test group on staging before cleaning production media.
  2. Open Settings (Einstellungen). Check the reference sources, recovery setting and retention period. The background-processing status should show available Action Scheduler processing.
  3. Open Analysis (Analyse) and run the analysis. Wait for completion before judging the duplicate and unused-media results.
  4. In Cleanup (Bereinigung), review one duplicate group and run a test. Read all blocked or unsupported-reference notices before confirming a real cleanup.

Updates and changing editions

WordPress.org supplies updates for its Free package. Packages supplied by IPS use the IPS update channel; Pro updates may require an active license for that channel. A Pro license does not add Pro code to a WordPress.org package. Use the package supplied for your purchase and follow its installation instructions.

When returning to Free, Pro controls and behavior are unavailable. Keep a backup and review any configuration that depends on Pro before switching. These instructions describe the supported features; they do not announce availability of a release in every distribution channel.

Know the navigation

The interface follows Analysis → Cleanup → Recovery. Depending on the installed translation, you may see the source labels Analyse, Bereinigung and Sicherungen. Media quality checks are under Medienqualität.

A recovery copy is required for real cleanup. With recovery disabled or storage protection unverified, use analysis and test runs until the problem is resolved.

Continue with the workflow

  • Analysis — interpret findings and scan coverage.
  • Cleanup — review and execute a small cleanup.
  • Recovery — restore an item and understand retention.
