Cart Recovery (Pro)

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Pro only; off by default. Cart Recovery requires the enabled IPS Portal Checkout and working WooCommerce Action Scheduler processing. It captures eligible carts in the portal, not directly in the Sidecart or native WooCommerce checkout.

Choose capture and timing

Open Cart Recovery → Settings (German: Warenkorbrückgewinnung → Einstellungen). Choose the capture mode deliberately: automatic capture with a valid email address, or capture after an explicit checkbox selection. Automatic capture does not record customer consent. Align the chosen capture and sending workflow with the shop’s customer communication settings.

SettingDefault and range
ModuleOff.
Capture modeAutomatic without a checkbox; optional checkbox mode.
Mark abandoned after inactivity15 minutes; configurable from 5 to 1,440.
Send reminder after abandonmentA further 180 minutes; configurable from 5 to 10,080.
Retain captured carts and links30 days from capture; 1–90 days for new entries.
Count as recovered at order statusProcessing and Completed; configurable for reporting.

Each captured shopping journey receives at most one reminder. The scheduler checks every five minutes, so delivery can occur after the configured threshold. Unsubscribe and order submission stop reminders. Failed or ambiguous send attempts are not automatically retried. Changing from automatic to checkbox capture stops sending older automatically captured entries.

Prepare the email

Use the visual or HTML editor for the reminder body. Subject and inbox preview text are separate fields and do not replace placeholders. Insert body placeholders as content, not inside an HTML attribute such as href.

PlaceholderResult
{shop_name}Shop name.
{cart_products}Captured products and quantities.
{recovery_button}Personal recovery link button.
{unsubscribe_link}Unsubscribe link for the reminder.

The product list, recovery button and unsubscribe link appear once each; a missing block is appended automatically. WooCommerce supplies the email frame, sender and mailer.

Preview and test before activation

  1. Use the email preview to inspect the current draft, including unsaved edits.
  2. Send a test email to an address you control and check the inbox and mobile layout. Preview and test use sample products and inactive links; they do not create real captured carts or recovery tokens.
  3. Save the intended settings, enable the module and test capture with your own test customer in the portal. A successful mailer response alone does not prove inbox delivery.

How customers restore a cart

The email link opens a confirmation page. Merely opening the link does not change the cart. If the browser already has items, the customer must explicitly confirm replacement. Recovery acts in that browser’s session and does not automatically log the customer in.

Current prices, stock, variants and purchase rules are checked again. Supported recovery covers simple products and variations as one-time purchases. Active subscriptions, bundles and unknown item add-on data are excluded. Unavailable items can be skipped with an explanation; if nothing can be restored or the combination is forbidden, the existing cart is preserved. A confirmed recovered selection is protected against merging the older account cart at the following login.

Reports, retention and recovery pages

Reports use retained carts grouped by capture date in the shop timezone. The configured successful order statuses affect recovery reporting, not permission to keep emailing after an order. Review the worker status to distinguish missing history, delayed processing and failed jobs.

Advanced options control retention for new entries and the recovery-page shop logo. The existing WordPress logo is used first, with the supported Flatsome logo fallback; no new logo upload is required. Confirmed data deletion removes selected recovery records, not WooCommerce orders, live carts or settings. Retention cleanup can continue with capture disabled while Pro remains active.
